Same spirit as Couvreur’s Clearach but older (15 years instead of 3, wholly matured in medium humid cellar). 45% alc./vol. cask strength. Limited edition. This single cask whisky is purposed in 500ml square bottles, numbered from 1 to 783. Palate round and mellow, nice tight thanks to its natural alcohol concentration, very easy to drink. Well Balanced, spicy, suave, with a very soft " woody frame", it reveals a panoply of very complex flavors. It reminds us of the Clearach by its freshness of almond, slightly aniseed, flavors of white beer, but much more complex with bitter additional notes due to the Oloroso barrel. In comparison with the XII, the XV is clearer, revealing a point of oxidative. Wonderful example of rancio, balancing the bitterness, the roundness and the spicy flavors bringing a lot of freshness.
